James A. Jewell, PA-C
James A. Jewell, P.A.C., is a physicain assistant certified by the National Board of Physician Assistants. As a physician assistant Mr. Jewell provides patient medical care under the supervision of Dr. Chiu. He interviews patients, performs biopsies and other diagnostic procedures, and treats many acute and chronic skin conditions. Mr. Jewell joined Diablo Dermatology in 1988, following a 26 year career in the U.S. Navy where he served as an independent duty corpsman, pharmacy tech, and physician assistant. He received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Nebraska Physican Assistant program in 1976. Since then he has received specialty training in primary care, pediatrics, and dermatology at the U.S. Naval Hospitals at Long Beach and Oakland. For many years he has served as a clinical preceptor for students in the physician assistant program at Samuel Merritt College. The American Academy of Physician Assistants designated Mr. Jewell as a Distinguished Fellow in 2009 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to patient care and the profession, and his dedicated community involvement. When not working, Mr. Jewell enjoys woodworking, golf, and fishing.
